ALVARO - Storage boxes with seat cover

The high-quality storage boxes made of metal offer storage space for garden utensils. As protection against theft, they can be secured with a padlock (on-site). The lid opens and closes smoothly thanks to gas pressure dampers. The seat pad turns ALVARO into an additional bench on the terrace or in the garden.

ALVARO Storage Box with Seat Cushion

Great storage space for the patio

With our storage box, you kill two birds with one stone: The box is a spacious and—thanks to its black interior coating—waterproof storage solution for your patio or garden. It also serves as a seat with its weather-resistant Thermo Ash, RESYSTA® or KEBONY® as an elegant and durable bench.

The seat cushion is screwed in from below, so no screws are visible on the seat surface. All corners and edges of the metal frame are rounded and sanded smooth. The patio box can be locked with a padlock (not included) and is easy to transport thanks to its side handles. Manufactured by Gartenmetall®. We offer garden boxes made from Corten steel, Stainless steel with Rotex finish and  color-coated stainless steel in RAL and DB colors. The most popular color remains RAL 7016 anthracite gray, fine texture.

Materials for Seat Cushions

To ensure the storage box blends well with the rest of your patio furniture, we offer three different materials for the seat cushions: initially chocolate brown, later silver-gray  thermo-ash as a classic, the particularly weather-resistant natural fiber compound  RESYSTA® and high-quality solid pine wood  KEBONY®. All seat panels are screwed in from below, so no screws are visible on the seat surface.

Lockable Storage Box

To protect against theft, you can secure the patio storage box with a U-lock. We have included a mounting bracket where you can attach your lock, provided the U-lock’s shackle has a maximum diameter of 3 mm.

Yes. Gartenmetall describes the ALVARO storage box as waterproof and specifically suitable for seat cushions. The interior has a black, waterproof plastic coating that protects the contents from dirt and moisture. The inside of the lid itself is not coated with plastic.
Yes. ALVARO is designed as a storage box with a seat cushion, so it can also be used as a bench. The cushion is secured with screws from below, so no screw heads are visible on the seat surface. You can choose from thermo-ash, RESYSTA®, and KEBONY®.

For the body of the ALVARO storage box, you can choose from Corten steel, stainless steel with a Rotex finish, and color-coated stainless steel. For the Corten steel version, Gartenmetall uses weather-resistant S355J2W+N structural steel with material number 1.8965. The color-coated version is available in RAL and DB colors.

ALVARO is available with seat cushions made of thermo-ash, RESYSTA®, or KEBONY®. Thermo-ash is heat-treated ash wood; as a natural material, it may exhibit color changes, graying, and typical wood characteristics over time. KEBONY® is treated, certified pine wood that also develops a silver-gray patina when exposed to the elements. RESYSTA® is a wood-look natural fiber composite; it is weather-resistant and, according to Gartenmetall, does not turn gray.
ALVARO is available in three standard sizes: 1,000 × 500 × 475 mm, 2,000 × 500 × 475 mm, and 1,600 × 750 × 475 mm—length × width × height, respectively. In addition, custom sizes are available upon request. This allows the box to be adapted to specific space constraints on a patio or in a garden design.
Yes. Gartenmetall offers ALVARO as a special version without the standard seat cushion and with a subframe prepared for a customer-supplied cushion. Upon request, the seat cushion can also be customized to match the existing patio flooring. For technical coordination, information such as dimensions, weight, and the layout of the slats is required.
A lockable version is available as an option. In this version, ALVARO is designed to accommodate a U-lock or padlock; the lock itself is not included. According to the product page, the shackle may have a maximum diameter of 3 mm.

The lid swings open and comes standard with gas springs that make it easier to open and close. The seat cushion rests directly on the lid and is secured from below. In addition, all corners and edges of the metal frame are rounded and smoothed; the package includes four spacer washers to raise the seat off the floor.

When installing Corten steel products, the natural rusting process must be taken into account from the moment of installation. Gartenmetall notes that, especially in the first few years, rust flaking of approximately 0.05 mm may occur. Installation should therefore be planned so that this rust flaking—or rust-containing runoff—can be properly drained away. The characteristic protective layer of Corten steel develops under alternating wet and dry weathering conditions.
