BOZEN log holder for storing firewood

Our simple BOZEN log holder is useful for storing firewood near barbecues or fire pits, and also presents your supply of firewood attractively! The log holder is open on all four sides, but is sealed at the top and bottom by a base. This prevents water from penetrating the wood, either from above or from the ground. This practical addition to wood-burning fireplaces is available in a classic design in Corten steel, in stainless steel or in colour-coated surface.

How do I set up the log holder correctly?

If you intend to place the log holder on the patio, we recommend using a stainless steel base. This will help prevent rust marks on the paving. Supplied without firewood. Made by Gartenmetall®.

You can find more ideas here on how to store firewood so that it stays dry, looks attractive and is kept close to the fireplace: for example, the MERAN bench with a log storage compartment, or, in a larger size, our LIGNA privacy screen as a wood store for larger supplies of firewood.

Frequently asked questions about the Holzlege BOZEN

The BOZEN firewood rack is a compact metal rack for storing firewood and logs outdoors. It is designed to provide a manageable, easily accessible supply of wood near a barbecue or wood-burning fire pit. Gartenmetall stocks the BOZEN as a complement to its fire-related products; the wood remains tidy and readily accessible without the need for a large-scale firewood store.

Gartenmetall offers the BOZEN range in Corten steel, stainless steel and colour-coated finishes. For the Corten steel variant, weather-resistant structural steel S355J2W+N, material no. 1.8965 is used; the visible surfaces are supplied with a pre-rusted finish. Gartenmetall’s colour-coated garden features are always manufactured from stainless steel and, depending on the product, can be finished in various RAL or DB colour shades.
The specified standard dimensions of the BOZEN log rack are 800 mm high, 400 mm wide and 400 mm deep. The weight is stated in the technical product information as 18 kg. The design features rounded corners and 50 mm wide edging.
BOZEN is open on all four sides and is enclosed at the top and bottom by a base. This protects the stored firewood from water penetrating directly from above and from the ground; at the same time, the open storage area remains well ventilated. However, the wood store is not a completely enclosed shelter for firewood.

Yes. However, with the Corten steel version, a stainless steel coaster should be used on patio slabs. Gartenmetall strongly recommends this to prevent rust particles or rust-containing runoff from settling directly onto the patio surface. Particularly in the first few years, material may still flake off the rusted surface of Corten steel; drainage should therefore be taken into account during the planning stage.

Kiln-dried or very well-seasoned firewood should not be stacked tightly up against the metal frame. If dry wood left outdoors subsequently absorbs moisture again, it may swell. Gartenmetall expressly points out that the resulting pressure can cause the BOZEN metal frame to become misshapen. Leaving a little space between the wood and the frame prevents this strain.
The Corten steel version of BOZEN is supplied with the visible sides pre-rusted. The surface nevertheless remains dynamic: under alternating wet and dry weather conditions, Corten steel continues to develop its characteristic protective layer and patina. Changes in colour and texture of the rose-coloured surface are therefore part of the material’s natural behaviour.
BOZEN is the compact solution, particularly when firewood needs to be stored within easy reach. MERAN, on the other hand, combines wood storage with a bench and is therefore particularly suitable for seating areas around a fire pit. LIGNA is designed as a larger firewood storage unit or privacy screen for more extensive wood supplies. The three systems thus fulfil different functions and should not be compared solely on the basis of their appearance.
BOZEN is supplied as a log holder with a top shelf and a bottom shelf. Firewood is not included. A stainless steel base is available as an optional extra for installing the Corten steel version on delicate patio surfaces.
