We offer two different trash can systems that fit all standard trash cans: The ZITTAU trash can storage unit is designed as a single or double unit with classic hinged doors. In contrast, our XANTEN trash can and bike storage units are more convenient to use and significantly more spacious; they open and close easily with sliding doors. Even bulky bicycles can find a weather-protected home here! The enclosures are available in rust-red Corten steel, rotex-polished stainless steel, and  color-coated stainless steel in DB and RAL colors.

Practical storage unit with smooth-gliding sliding doors

Our “Large” model is a very sturdy storage unit for the entryway, designed to store (multiple) trash cans, bicycles, or other items. The unit opens and closes with sliding doors that glide smoothly thanks to a sophisticated track system. In addition, the sliding doors ensure that no tracks get in the way at chest height when loading the unit, making the contents easily accessible. A rotary knob for opening and closing is included. It is designed to accommodate a standard cylinder lock, which can be integrated with the building’s locking system if desired. The cylinder lock must be provided by the customer.

The XANTEN box is available with 2, 3, or 4 sliding doors, each in two different sizes. The smallest box accommodates up to 2 120-liter trash cans, while the largest box can hold 4 240-liter trash cans or 2 bicycles. The doors are closed as standard; we also offer doors with perforated metal as an option. These provide good ventilation but allow more rainwater to enter. Important: The unit protects the contents from rainwater but, due to its design, is not completely waterproof!

Our trash can enclosure is the ideal solution here, serving as an elegant bike garage in the garden or at the entrance to your home. The metal bike enclosure can be locked, offering not only protection from the elements but also secure storage to prevent theft. For easy access, both doors can be slid open at the same time.

ZITTAU Trash Can Enclosure with Hinged Doors

Our classic ZITTAU model is a high-quality, very sturdy trash can enclosure that can be used for a variety of purposes beyond just holding trash cans. The bins feature a black, lockable handle for opening and closing the door, which can be folded flush with the surface. Delivery includes a safety rope and wheel recesses for easy handling and convenient filling of the trash cans. We supply single bins in standard sizes of 120 liters, 140 liters, and 240 liters, as well as double bins for 2x 120 liters, 2x 140 liters, and 2x 240 liters. All units are fully pre-assembled. The bottom is open except for the wheel well; optionally, the unit can be bolted to the floor. However, this is usually not necessary due to the unit’s heavy weight.

Note: Please specify the door opening direction when ordering. The standard for single boxes is DIN right-hand opening, i.e., the hinge is on the right and the door handle is on the left.

Options for the ZITTAU Trash Can Enclosure

Not all trash cans are created equal: To ensure that your trash cans are not only stored in an aesthetically pleasing way but that filling them is also a breeze, we’ve devised various options for you, such as top-loading with front-opening emptying. You can also enhance the visual appeal of this functional unit, for example, with a perforated metal door and a flat roof suitable for planting.

Note: The folding roof is particularly suitable for taller people. Upon customer request, it can also be installed so that it opens from the back instead of the front. This allows for loading from the house side and removing the trash cans from the street side.

The hinged lid is an optional feature for bins with a swing door and allows for convenient waste disposal directly from the top. The lid is held in its end position by torque-controlled hinges and is cushioned by gas springs and rubber buffers when opening and closing.

Perforated metal doors instead of a solid front

For better ventilation or a more open look, we offer trash can enclosures with perforated metal doors. However, this also allows more moisture to penetrate the interior. Therefore, please select this option only if you want to conceal your trash cans in a visually appealing way.

Green Roof/Plant Roof

Instead of a solid flat roof, we also offer the option of a green roof. To accommodate this, the edge has been raised by 10 cm so that you can add enough growing medium for drought-tolerant plants. However, the external dimensions of the containers remain the same as those of the standard boxes with a closed roof. Two holes in the rear corners ensure that rainwater or excess irrigation water drains inward and seeps into the soil. To prevent growing medium from entering the interior, we recommend placing a non-woven fabric liner underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions About Metal Trash Cans and Bike Lockers

ZITTAU is designed as a single or double bin enclosure and opens with traditional hinged doors. XANTEN is larger and features smooth-operating sliding doors. Depending on the model, it can accommodate several trash cans or up to two bicycles. The sliding doors do not require any additional clearance in front of the enclosure and are therefore particularly useful when space in front of the enclosure is limited.

The ZITTAU trash can enclosure is available as standard for single bins with 120, 140, or 240 liters, as well as a double unit for 2 × 120, 2 × 140, or 2 × 240 liters. XANTEN is available in standard versions for two, three, or four trash cans; it is designed specifically for 120- and 240-liter cans.

The larger XANTEN models can accommodate bicycles instead of trash cans. It is possible to secure the ZITTAU to the floor, but according to Gartenmetall, this is not normally necessary due to its heavy weight. The unit features a wheel recess and pre-drilled holes for bolting it to the floor. The ZITTAU is delivered fully pre-assembled; therefore, when planning, you must take into account not only the installation area but also transportation to the final installation site.
Yes, but the systems are different. ZITTAU has a black, lockable handle or a flip-lever latch. XANTEN comes with a rotary knob and is designed to accommodate a standard cylinder lock to be installed on-site. This allows the lock to be integrated with an existing home locking system if needed.
