AQUA LINEA

AQUA LINEA is the classic for water basins and fountain systems in professional gardening and landscaping. All fountains essentially consist of a sturdy edged water trough, which comes in rectangular, round and semicircular designs. However, we are happy to manufacture special shapes in our in-house production.

The fountain troughs can be combined with a water wall. In this case, water is discharged via wide stainless steel water trays or tubular water inlets.

Properties of AQUA LINEA well systems

Alternatively, on the stable edge of the water basin can be mounted water inlet pipe that pours into the fountain basin with a quiet splashing.

Our fountain system AQUA LINEA leaves almost nothing to be desired. The well troughs can be rectangular, semicircular or round. The water inlet can be, for example, via a water wall, via tubular water inlets, as a nozzle installed in the trough or via numerous other variants such as spring bowls or spring blocks. Special plastic coating against rusting through

Plastic coating against rusting through

All Gartenmetall® water troughs are coated from the inside with an elastic, UV-stable and black plastic in a hot-spray process. The special plastic is extremely elastic (elongation at break up to 100%) and adheres excellently to the metallic substrate. The material is temperature resistant from -50°C to +150°. It is also possible to apply the coating over insulation panels to protect the water from overheating in midsummer.

Thanks to our own production, we can manufacture the fountain basins in almost any shape and dimension: e.g. rectangular, semicircular, round and of course also in special shapes. Cascade fountain KLASSIK and TRIBERG with several water troughs

The combination of water wall and water trough from the series AQUA LINEA is available as a prefabricated fountain ensemble „KLASSIK“ with two and „TRIBERG“ with three fountain troughs. Other variants are possible on request, since Gartenmetall manufactures all fountain basins itself.

The cascade fountains are a great combination of Überlauf- and collecting basins and can be arranged individually. The water reaches üvia the pipe installed in the Überlaufbecken into the upper basin and then flows üt via a water bowl into the collecting basin.

Water walls for water trough with different water pots

As a supplement to the fountain systems, we offer numerous fountain and water inlets. They are made of the particularly high-quality stainless steelV4A (material no. 1.4404). Special designs are possible on request.

Free-standing water inlet columns with different inlet variants

The water inlet columns are self-standing and can be screwed in the garden by means of a base plate on a stable base. The narrow inlet columns are available with adjustable faucet, with inlet pipe or wide stainless steel water bowl.

Position of the pumps

Three possible variants

The standard for the position of the pump is variant A, i.e. the positioning of the pump directly in the water trough. Quieter and visually hidden is the pump in the water wall (variant B). In variant C, the pump is stored in a separate pump sump with a floor drain. There the pump is placed invisible and hardly hörbar.

LED underwater light

For special effects provide the LED light rails or LED underwater lights, which can be mounted at various positions on and in the fountain. The light is warm white, delivery includes cable and transformer. The installation without electrician is permissible.

Water trough bubbler

Great effects can be conjured up with the foam bubblers. The nozzles swirl the water and enrich it additionally with oxygen. The bubblers can be placed individually or in groups directly in the trough and provide invigoration in the pool.

Splash guard and noise reduction

SILENCIO ANTI SPLASH

The splash guard grille is mounted floating under the water jet and thus prevents splashing water and loud plätschergeräusche. SILENCIO ANTI SPLASH consists of a sound-absorbing fine mesh held in a floating mesh frame. Quick and easy to install even after the fact.

Interior Coating of the Water Trough

Important Information on the Black Interior Coating of Water Basins

To protect the black PU interior coating of our Gartenmetall® water basins, it is important to ensure that the entire coated bottom surface remains covered with at least 2 cm of water throughout the year. This also applies in winter when the water level is lowered to prevent frost damage.

If the water basin remains completely empty for an extended period, intense sunlight and high temperatures in summer, as well as temperature and moisture fluctuations in winter, may affect the interior coating. Over time, this can lead to localized blistering or peeling of the coating.

Completely draining the basin for a short period, for example for cleaning, is not a problem. However, the basin should be refilled with water promptly afterwards. Chlorine-based water treatment and cleaning products, as well as other chemical additives, should generally be avoided, as incorrect dosages may damage the coating.

If localized blistering or peeling does occur, this does not necessarily mean that the watertightness or functionality of the water basin has been compromised.

Sometimes a coloured variant is preferred over the timeless black interior coating, with turquoise blue being particularly popular. As this is a specialised underwater paint, the adhesion must be precisely tailored to the coating system. Consequently, only a limited range of colours is available. Ideally, the coating should be applied at the factory, as maximum cleanliness of the surface to be coated is crucial for optimum adhesion.

Water features for every garden

Unique and durable

Water features made from Corten steel are one of Gartenmetall’s areas of special expertise. To prevent the water from turning rust-brown, the fountains are designed so that the water does not come into prolonged contact with the Corten steel at any point. All water basins are lined with a sturdy, black, flexible and UV-resistant inner coating. Water spouts and connecting elements are made from stainless steel to ensure a long service life.

Frequently asked questions about AQUA LINEA fountain systems

AQUA LINEA is a modular fountain system designed for professional gardening and landscaping. The system is based on a metal water basin, which can be supplemented – depending on the project – with a water wall, a water chute, an inlet pipe, a spring fountain, a foam bubbler or other components. Multi-tiered cascade fountains can also be constructed using several water troughs.

AQUA LINEA is available in Corten steel, stainless steel and colour-coated stainless steel. This allows the material and finish to be coordinated with the architecture, paving and other metal elements in the outdoor space.

Water chutes and various fountain inlets are made from corrosion-resistant stainless steel. Gartenmetall uses V4A stainless steel for these water features.

The water troughs are manufactured in a range of shapes, including rectangular, round and semi-circular. Custom shapes are also possible. The height, width and length can be tailored to suit the specific project; water basins over 12 metres in length can be produced.

For bespoke fountains, Gartenmetall creates a 3D CAD design for approval prior to manufacture.

Corten steel requires an alternation between wet and dry phases in order to form its protective barrier layer. This mechanism does not function reliably if water is left standing for long periods.

Without a protective layer, the water in the fountain may turn a rust-brown colour. Furthermore, rust particles may settle on the base of the basin and the material may be damaged by progressive corrosion.

AQUA LINEA Corten steel water troughs are therefore coated on the inside with a black, waterproof and UV-stable Gartenmetall® plastic coating. This separates the standing well water from the metal surface.

Yes. With AQUA LINEA, the internal coating prevents standing water from coming into direct contact with the Corten steel. This prevents rust from the inside of the basin from turning the water brown.

Regardless of this, the water in the fountain must be maintained. The coating does not prevent algae, the build-up of dirt or changes in the pH level.

In systems without sophisticated filter technology, the well water can be changed regularly. Gartenmetall also recommends chlorine multi-tabs as a possible method of water maintenance. The pH value should be between 7.0 and 7.4.

The tablets must be dissolved in the water and must not be placed directly on the inner lining. For more technically sophisticated systems, a separate filter and water treatment system can be installed.

There are various ways to plan the water flow. Options include, for example, water walls with ISAR or GERLOS water spouts, as well as inlet pipes such as ELLMAU, GOISERN or ROFAN.

Other Gartenmetall water features can also serve as inlets, including AQUA BLOCK, AQUA GLOBE and AQUA BOWL. Foam aerators can be installed directly in the water basin.

The selection should be made during the technical planning stage, as the water flow rate, pump, pipework and feed-throughs need to be tailored to it.

The standard position is directly in the water basin. Depending on the layout, the pump may also be situated within a water wall, in a separate pump sump or in a dry pump shaft.

The position affects accessibility, noise levels, hose routing and maintenance. When designing a well system, it is therefore important to determine at an early stage how the pump can be accessed and removed at a later date.

The position and number of penetrations should be determined before manufacture. They are required, for example, for water pipes, drains, overflow pipes and electrical cables.

It is possible to create them at a later stage, but this involves additional work on site. It is therefore advisable, particularly for more complex well systems, to draw up a sketch showing the desired positions and functions of the connections.

The water troughs are supplied pre-assembled ex works. This reduces the amount of assembly work required on site. However, the additional work required depends on the specific well system, for example the pump position, foundations, electrical connections, water supply and accessories.

Particularly in the case of bespoke systems, these points should be agreed upon before production begins.

Yes. AQUA LINEA is designed for standard dimensions and bespoke solutions tailored to specific projects. In addition to custom lengths, widths and heights, special shapes, multiple basins, cascades and bespoke water inlets can also be designed. 

For bespoke fountains, Gartenmetall creates a 3D CAD design for approval prior to manufacture. This is particularly helpful when basins, water walls, connections and adjacent components need to fit together precisely.

Various lighting options are available for AQUA LINEA. These include LED underwater lights in the water basin and LED lighting on or inside a water chute.

The necessary cable entries should, where possible, be taken into account at the planning stage, as retrofitting them later is more complicated.

When a jet of water strikes the water’s surface with force, it can cause splashing and a noticeable level of noise. For AQUA LINEA, SILENCIO ANTI SPLASH is a floating fine mesh that is fitted beneath the water jet and reduces both of these effects.

The system can also be retrofitted.

The water pumps used are not frost-proof. They must therefore be protected from frost. Further measures for winterisation depend on the design of the well system and should be carried out in accordance with the installation and maintenance instructions.
