Gentle drizzle pours from the numerous jets of the AQUA RAIN water curtain into the pool below. Water feature with water curtain

The AQUA RAIN water curtain comes pretty close to real rain. The special water outlet nozzles can be arranged in a single row or in multiple rows, resulting in a more or less dense water curtain. The water feature is versatile both indoors and outdoors: as a design object in entrance halls and hotel lobbies, as a privacy screen, as well as a water element to improve the indoor climate.

The hot-dip galvanized water collection vessel can stand directly on the ground or – especially outdoors – be installed flush with the top edge of the ground. The hot-dip galvanized surface has a purely technical appearance. Therefore, at prominent points, we strongly recommend that the vessel be provided with a lining.

Technique and structure of the water curtain

AQUA RAIN

The AQUA RAIN system is fully functional upon delivery. It consists of the following elements:

  • U-shaped frame prepared for water outlet nozzles
  • Water curtain rail with single or double row nozzles
  • hot-dip galvanized water collecting vessel with removable grate
  • Tuned water pump
  • Cladding of the water collection vessel for installation at ground level (optional)
  • LED underwater lighting (optional)

Cladding for water collection vessel

If you decide to install the water feature at ground level, we offer a cladding of the water collection vessel. This provides a visually appealing appearance. The vesselä&outer;e are available in Corten steel, stainless steel and in color-coated finish.

LED underwater light

The three-part underwater lamp with IP68 protection is placed in the water collection vessel at will. Thus, the water feature can be individually set in scene and attracts all eyes even at a later hour.

Technical notes

Due to the drop height and the amount of water, a loud water noise is generated during operation. In cases where silence is desired, the water curtain is therefore not suitable!

When setting up the water feature, make sure it is in a wind-protected place. Otherwise, the water can be blown out of the pool and turn the surrounding area into puddles. The safest location is indoors.

The fine water outlet düsen are susceptible to calcification and clogging by suspended solids such as micro-algae. They should therefore only be operated with decalcified water. A HEPA filter is included in the scope of delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions about the AQUA RAIN Water Curtain

Yes, though AQUA RAIN should be placed in a location sheltered from the wind when used outdoors. Even the wind can blow the fine curtain of water sideways, causing water to land outside the collection vessel. Locations exposed to direct wind should therefore be avoided. For indoor settings or sheltered outdoor areas, the water flow can be planned with much greater control.
AQUA RAIN is suitable for gardens, terraces, and sheltered courtyards, as well as for larger interior spaces such as reception areas or hotel lobbies. When planning the installation, sufficient space must be allowed for the water collection vessel. For outdoor locations, protection against the wind is an additional key factor to consider.
The falling curtain of water can visually divide areas and interrupt sightlines without partitioning the space with a solid wall. AQUA RAIN is therefore well-suited as a design-oriented room divider. However, anyone requiring a completely opaque privacy screen should also plan for a solid privacy solution.

The drop height and the comparatively large volume of water create a distinct rushing sound. This effect may be desirable in areas such as entrances or busy outdoor spaces. However, AQUA RAIN is not the ideal choice for quiet zones where a very subtle water feature is desired.

Decalcified water is recommended for AQUA RAIN. The fine water outlet nozzles are sensitive to limescale and suspended particles such as microalgae. The system therefore includes a filter for suspended particles with a 250 µm filter insert. Using water of suitable quality reduces the risk of individual nozzles becoming clogged and the water curtain becoming uneven.
Maintenance focuses on water quality and the filter. The filter must be checked and rinsed regularly, as impurities can impair the fine nozzles. For outdoor installations, winterization is an additional factor: the water pump is not frost-resistant and must be protected against freezing temperatures.
The frame of the AQUA RAIN water curtain is available in Corten steel, stainless steel, and color-coated stainless steel. This allows the material of the water feature to be coordinated with adjacent metal elements, architecture, or landscape design. The water collection basin itself is made of hot-dip galvanized steel.
The water collection reservoir can be placed directly on the ground or installed outdoors flush with the ground surface. A removable grating covers the water surface and can serve, for example, as a base for a decorative gravel covering installed on-site. If the reservoir is installed visibly at ground level, the technical unit can additionally be fitted with cladding.
The current standard versions have a total height of 2,350 mm and total widths of 1,450 or 2,450 mm. The clearance height for these versions is 1,800 mm. Custom dimensions are also available for projects where standard dimensions do not fit the design requirements.
With the AQUA RAIN, water falls freely downwards from a nozzle rail positioned at the top, creating a characteristic curtain of water. In contrast, with a water wall like the AQUA TOP, the water flows over a solid metal surface. Consequently, the choice depends primarily on the desired visual effect, noise levels, location, and wind conditions.
