TERRESTA

High quality workmanship and custom made

With planters and raised beds from the TERRESTA series you can transform terraces, balconies and even small gardens into a beautiful oasis. So even hot and dry summers can not harm your plants!

The plant troughs can also be used to make different heights fall-proof and replace for example railings on terraces. You can find more ideas from the EARTH category here.

Advantages of raised beds

The TERRESTA planters can be used as a classic raised bed in many different places in the garden and make the work of gardeners much easier by…

  • convenient and back-friendly working height
  • Fewer snail and vermin infestations
  • fewer weeds
  • Faster plant growth, as the metal body acts as a heat accumulator
  • good growing conditions even in gardens with poor Böden
Plants grow in rust-coloured raised beds, surrounded by lawns, trees, and modern residential buildings in sunny weather.

Tips for filling your TERRESTA planters

For healthy plant growth in TERRESTA containers, we recommend a layered system: start with a drainage layer of gravel or clay shards to prevent waterlogging. Follow this with leaves and green waste, then coarse compost or manure. Finish with high-quality raised bed soil or compost, which should be replenished regularly after settling. This creates ideal growing conditions – permeable, nutrient-rich, durable, and easy to maintain.

Accessories for TERRESTA planters

Soil permeable to water or with overflow

If the planter is to be moved from time to time, this is only possible if either a water-permeable or a waterproof base is installed. In the latter case, an overflow pipe and an internal coating are necessary to prevent rusting. In addition, we offer a set of rollers for smaller vessels up to 800 mm. The rollers are mounted from below on the vessel.

Floor water-permeable or with overflow

A stainless steel coaster protects the patio floor from plant soil and rust water. Since coasters have a limited water collection capacity, heavy rain or too much watering will cause water to overflow and cause some soiling. Note: It is essential to install wooden or plastic spacers with a minimum thickness of 10 mm between the corten steel planter and the stainless steel coaster. Only then can the planter always dry off, even in the ground area.

Set of casters for planter

We offer a set of casters for smaller containers up to 800 mm³. The casters are mounted to the bottom of the container. Load capacity per caster: 100 kg. Distance to the bottom of the planter: approx. 40 mm.

Water storage mat for irrigation

For regulated irrigation, water storage mats can be installed in the vessel. They act both as a water reservoir and as insulation. 1 cm hygromat stores as much water as 3 cm of soil substrate!

Crane lugs for easy transport

For larger raised beds, crane straps are advantageous for transporting the container. They are attached to the inside corner and are also suitable for attaching walkways.

Comparison with other plant trough systems

1. Planter TERRESTA as a raised bed or retaining wall.

Properties/Application:

  • Not designed für the absorption of earth pressure forces.
  • Designed for planting containers. For longer planters, stability is achieved only by bracing with opposing wall
  • Width up to a maximum of 200 cm
  • Heights optimal from 30 cm to 90 cm

Advantages:

  • Günstige construction with flexible modular system
  • .
  • Simple construction
  • Assembly of earthwork without heavy equipment possible

Disadvantages:

  • Needs opposite wall

Example rectangular planter TERRESTA

2. Earth retaining wall TERRA PALA as raised bed or retaining wall

Properties/Application:

  • Stable design, so that comparatively large forces can be absorbed
  • Relatively complex construction with high material requirements
  • Heights optimally from 30 cm to 50 cm, maximum up to 90 cm

Advantages:

  • Eigenstabile construction für large raised beds and long Stützwände
  • Construction of inherently stable earthen walls without auxiliary construction

Disadvantages:

  • High material costs, thus comparatively high manufacturing costs

Example planter made of TERRA PALA earth retaining wall

3. Wall facing MAURESTA with L-stones as raised bed

Properties/Application:

  • Known system and high stability due to the use of standard components (L-stones)
  • Combination of L-stones and additional optical cladding
  • Heights optimal from 50 cm to über 180 cm

Advantages:

  • Designable for all earth pressure forces due to stable substructure
  • .
  • Simple design and installation üvia L-brackets
  • .
  • Standard goods – no custom-made

Disadvantages:

  • Not reasonably applicable to smaller planters

Example planter from MAURESTA wall cladding

4. Path bordering tape EASY-LINER as raised bed

Properties/Application:

  • Designed for large lengths and areas
  • Heights up to a maximum of 30 cm

Advantages:

  • Simple and flexible design and installation
  • Nearly any shape can be implemented, radii also possible
  • Good value up to heights of 30 cm

Disadvantages:

  • Only low construction height up to a maximum of 30 cm feasible

Raised bed for wheelchair users

We design your planter according to your wishes and needs. For example, it is possible to make the raised bed wheelchair accessible, making it easy to use for wheelchair users. Do you have a special idea? Then contact us and the Gartenmetall team will advise you on how to implement it.

High quality and durable

The plant troughs are made of high-quality metal and are solidly welded, making them particularly durable and stable. The raised beds come in a variety of shapes, from rectangular, round, and oval to lens-shaped—so there is sure to be the right one for every location! To protect against frost and overheating, we recommend using insulation boards on the inside, or alternatively water storage mats. This allows you to significantly extend the watering intervals – a real bonus in hot summers!

Customized manufacturing - simple installation

Since GARTENMETALL® manufactures each raised bed individually, special requests regarding materials, dimensions, and features can be accommodated. The containers are available in rust-red, durable Corten steel, stainless steel, or color-coated stainless steel. On-site installation is very easy for sizes up to 4 m in length, as the planters are delivered fully assembled, self-supporting, and in one piece. The raised bed should either be placed on a gravel bed or a coaster should be used. Both prevent dirt from getting on the adjacent surface.

Structure and dimensions

Which planters are suitable for me? Basically, there are no restrictions in shape and size, because the high-quality planters made of metal can be adapted exactly to your circumstances in terms of dimensions. They are available in sizes from 0.25 m to over 18 m in length. The smaller containers are delivered in one piece and only need to be set up and filled. Planters and raised beds from approx. 3 m in length or approx. 2 m in width, on the other hand, are delivered in several parts and assembled on site with a special screw connection – no screw connections are visible from the outside. Special dimensions and shapes such as round, oval or lenticular planters we manufacture according to your specifications.

The beveled top gives the individual elements a very high level of stability with a relatively low sheet thickness. If this stability is not sufficient for high and very long planters, transverse or longitudinal braces are installed, which are not visible after filling. The assembly effort on site remains minimal. Due to the integrated mounting brackets, the elements are perfectly aligned. This garden metal®development has become established on the market and is protected by copyright.
