Our fire features are designed for a variety of settings but are a true “ray of light” wherever they’re placed. Learn more below about the different metal fire features available. Our metal fire features are designed for use with wood or charcoal, combining the atmosphere of an open fire with versatile uses in outdoor spaces.

We offer a wide range of accessories for every metal fire feature: The stainless steel grill grate was developed as an addition to our fire features – ideal for grilling meat, vegetables and other delicacies. The grill ring is also suitable for indirect grilling. If the TROJA fire feature is to be used as seating during the day, we offer a cover made of thermally modified ash or RESYSTA®.

VESUV Fire Pit – A Ray of Light on the Patio

Our VESUV fire basket is the perfect entry-level model for patios and gardens VESUV . It’s available in the classic rust-red patina finish or as a stainless steel version for special locations. Thanks to its compact size, the fire basket can be easily transported, spreading warmth and a cozy atmosphere at barbecues, birthday parties, or other outdoor celebrations. Please don’t forget the coaster to protect against rust and soot particles! Looking for a special gift? We’d be happy to laser-engrave your name, logo, or desired design onto the side panels of this metal fire feature. This turns the fire basket into a truly personalized gift.

TROJA Fire Pits – Our Classics

The fire pits TROJA square and  TROJA round are our classic wood-burning fire pits. They are available as a rectangular cube or a round cylinder, both featuring a circular fire bowl. All edges are rounded to prevent injuries. As standard, we offer these fire pits up to a length/width of 1.5 meters. However, custom designs are always possible thanks to our in-house production! 

With the grill grate attached, TROJA can be used as a high-quality outdoor grill. In the fire pit version with a side door, the grill area even becomes a full-fledged outdoor oven! All it takes is an additional pizza stone to achieve results just like those from a wood-fired oven. The lockable side door with a recessed handle is large enough to store accessories such as the grill grate, barbecue utensils, etc., inside the cool fire pit. A practical idea and a popular option! TROJA is available as a patinated metal fire feature or in a stainless steel version.

MERAN Bench – Stylish and Practical

Our bench is the perfect complement to our metal fire features  MERAN bench, made of Corten or stainless steel, is the perfect complement to our metal fire features. Here, firewood can be conveniently stored under the seat from thermo-ash or the natural fiber composite  RESYSTA® and is ready to go whenever you’re ready to throw a barbecue party. Frequently Asked Questions About Fire Pits and Metal Fire Features

When choosing a fire pit, it’s not just the shape and finish that matter. Other factors to consider include the type of fuel, the installation location, potential grilling capabilities, and how Corten steel interacts with delicate patio surfaces. The following questions will help you understand the differences between Gartenmetall’s fire features and find the right model for your garden, patio, or project planning.

Gartenmetall fire features are designed for use with wood or charcoal. Wood creates a classic open flame and is particularly suitable when the fire feature is also used for grilling. Charcoal is another suitable option for grilling and provides an even, long-lasting heat.

There are several designs available to suit different space and usage scenarios. VESUV is a compact fire basket made of Corten steel. TROJA is available as a round or square wood-burning fire pit. Additional options include the BOZEN log rack and the MERAN bench with a wood storage compartment.
When exposed to the elements, Corten steel develops its characteristic rust patina. Especially in the beginning, rust particles may come loose and cause discoloration on light-colored or delicate patio surfaces. Gartenmetall therefore recommends using a matching stainless steel trivet for Corten steel fire pits on patios. The area where the fire pit is placed must be suitable for use as a fire pit and fire-resistant.
The decision primarily concerns the surface, design, and how the installation site is handled. Corten steel develops a rust-brown patina and changes its appearance as it weathers. Stainless steel has a different, bright metallic surface and does not cause the typical rust staining seen with Corten steel. For delicate floor coverings, therefore, the choice of material and coaster should be considered as early as the planning stage.
Yes. The TROJA comes with a grill grate and an inset grill ring. The grill ring is designed for cooking directly on the hot steel surface, while the grill grate is placed over the fire. In models with a side door, the interior can also be used for baking—for example, with a suitable pizza stone.
With a base measuring 345 × 345 mm and a height of 740 mm, VESUV has a significantly more compact design and is ideal for areas with limited space. The fire basket can also be equipped with a stainless steel grill grate. TROJA is designed as a larger round or square fire pit and offers more options for a grill ring, grill grate, side door, covers, and other add-ons.
A cover is generally not necessary for normal outdoor use. It is useful if you want to keep wood scraps, ashes, or the grill ring as dry as possible between uses. Gartenmetall offers a variety of covers; some models can also be used as a table or seat when the fire pit is not in use.
That depends on the material, installation location, and intended use. For Corten steel on delicate patio surfaces, a coaster is recommended. If you want to use TROJA for grilling, you can add a grill ring or grill grate. Covers protect the interior area between uses. For firewood, the BOZEN firewood rack or the MERAN bench with built-in firewood storage can be incorporated directly into the design around the fire pit.
How should a fire pit be set up in the garden or on the patio? Wood-burning fire pits require a level, stable, and fire-resistant surface. A sufficient distance must be maintained from buildings, trees, shrubs, and other flammable areas. Wind direction and flying sparks must also be taken into account. An open fire must not be left unattended; it should be extinguished in the event of strong winds or heavy sparking. Since local guidelines and additional regulations may vary during periods of drought, the conditions at the specific location must be checked.
With ARGOS, for safety reasons, the propane tank must be placed next to the fireplace in a well-ventilated area. A separate gas tank enclosure is available to integrate it into the design.
