WANDA VARIO - Frame privacy screen

WANDA VARIO consists of a stable metal frame that can be filled individually. The classic is a filling of bamboo canes. However, trellises, metal slats or RESYSTA can also be inserted into the metal frame. Depending on the filling, the privacy screen is then more or less opaque.

Privacy Screen as a Frame System

WANDA VARIO, made of metal

Especially small gardens or front yards need a screen to block views from neighbors or the street so that residents can feel comfortable in their own green space. This privacy can be achieved with trees or shrubs. A better option, since it blocks views year-round, is a permanent privacy screen, such as our WANDA VARIO metal frame privacy screen made from the following metals  Corten steel, stainless steel, or color-coated stainless steel.

The WANDA VARIO privacy screen system consists of a metal frame that can be customized with various types of infill material. The most popular option is the version with bamboo rods. Alternatively, the screen can be fitted with metal slats to create the desired level of privacy. If you prefer something a bit more open, you can also attach a trellis to the frame and let it grow with climbing plants such as roses, wild grapevine, ivy, or other climbing plants. Frames in various standard sizes

The centerpiece of our WANDA VARIO privacy screen is a sturdy metal frame that is open at the top and can be filled as desired. The frame is typically set in concrete to ensure a secure hold even in strong winds. Alternatively, it can be secured to a solid surface using a screw-on base or mounted between stone pillars or wooden beams. Please note that wind can exert considerable force.

The screens are 180 cm high and available in widths of 50 cm, 100 cm, 150 cm or 200 cm, as well as depths of 5 cm, 10 cm and 15 cm. This allows for a variety of filling materials. Upon request, we also manufacture custom sizes .

With the WANDA VARIO, you can create an effective and stylish screen for your garden or front yard.

Assembly and Installation of the Framed Privacy Screen

The sturdy metal frame can be opened at the top edge, allowing the desired infill to be inserted quickly and easily. We ship the frame from the factory with bamboo stalks, slat panels, or a trellis. If you would like to install a different type of panel yourself—e.g., made of satin-finished glass, perforated metal, or other materials—please let us know in advance so we can prepare the appropriate mounting holes.

Bamboo Filling – Ideal Combination with Corten Steel

However, one major advantage of bamboo as a grass becomes apparent when combined with Corten steel: Unlike wood, the bamboo does not turn black upon contact with the rusted steel. This makes it particularly suitable for installation in our WANDA VARIO privacy screen.

Bamboo is a natural product that varies in color, texture, growth pattern, and size, and reacts to changes in ambient temperature and humidity. This can result in fine cracks or even through-cracks. This is not grounds for a complaint, but a normal occurrence in our European climate! Also important: The tubes taper slightly toward the top of the stalk. This means that small gaps may be visible between the individual bamboo stalks.

RESYSTA Rhombus Slats

Sturdy Wood-Look Finish

The privacy screen is filled with high-quality, durable rhombus slats made from the natural fiber composite RESYSTA. The spacing between the slats is approximately 20 mm. Durable Privacy Screen

Our wall with metal slats provides lasting privacy protection regardless of the season. Thanks to the angled slats, which are 2 mm thick, the wall remains open to the surroundings. The slatted privacy screen is available in Corten steel, stainless steel, and color-coated stainless steel.

Trellis as Filling Material

If you prefer a slightly more open privacy screen, you can simply weld a standard reinforcing steel mesh into the frame. The structure is of higher quality when metal rods (steel or stainless steel) with a diameter of ø10 mm are factory-welded into the frame at the desired spacing. The trellis can then be planted with vines as desired. All climbing and twining plants are suitable for this.

Mounting Options

We typically supply our WANDA VARIO privacy screen with extended legs designed to be set in concrete. However, for an additional charge, we also offer the screens with mounting feet that can be bolted to a stable surface, such as a concrete floor. Another mounting option is securing the screen to the wall using brackets, mounting it on one side of the house wall, or bolting it between sturdy palisades, columns, or wooden beams.

WANDA VARIO is a metal-frame privacy screen system. The surrounding frame forms the structural basis; the intended panel can be installed via the removable top rail. This allows for the separate planning of privacy, spatial division, and the desired level of transparency.
Gartenmetall offers the WANDA VARIO as a trellis with, among other options, metal slats, RESYSTA® slats, bamboo rods, welded mesh, or individual rods. Custom fillings provided by the customer are also generally possible. If this requires drill holes or other mounting points in the frame, the design should be coordinated prior to manufacturing.
The WANDA VARIO frame is available in Corten steel, stainless steel, and color-coated stainless steel. If, for example, a project-specific infill is to be used, the material thickness, fastening method, and required installation space must be clarified before placing the order.
