TROJA ROUND Fire Pit for Wood Fires

The round version of the TROJA fire pit, just like its square counterpart TROJA SQUARE a classic. The TROJA ROUND fire pit is a cylinder with a round base and an embedded, round fire bowl; standard body diameters: ø950 mm, ø1,250 mm, or ø1,450 mm. The height is 450 mm for all variants. Other diameters available upon request.

In the version with a side door, accessories such as grilling utensils can be stored inside the cold fire pit; however, due to its design, the large grill grate—which is available as an add-on for grilling—does not fit through the door. The side door is available with or without perforated metal and includes a stainless steel handle.

A classic model for all lovers of open fires: The TROJA RUND wood-burning fire pit is available with or without a side door. The side door can be solid or perforated. It features a stainless steel handle for easy opening and closing.

TROJA ROUND with or without grill ring

If you enjoy grilling meat or vegetables, our TROJA model with a grill ring for indirect grilling is a great choice. The grill ring is made of polished steel, as this material conducts heat particularly well. Before first use, it must be coated with a generous amount of cooking oil and cornstarch. This process creates a dark, durable surface during the first grilling session, which becomes even better suited for grilling with each subsequent use. To clean, simply scrape off the residue with a spatula. 

Note: The grill ring may warp due to the heat. However, this does not impair its function and is therefore not grounds for a complaint.

TROJA as an outdoor baking or pizza oven

Temperatures inside the fire pit can reach up to 300° C. This makes the oven model with a side door ideal for use as an outdoor baking and pizza oven. Combined with a preheated firebrick, baking becomes a party hit. To prevent the pizza from burning, the temperature can be monitored using a thermometer built into the door.

Covers for the TROJA Fire Pit

A cover for the fire pit is generally not necessary. However, a cover protects any remaining wood or charcoal and keeps the basin clean and dry. With the appropriate cover, the surface can also serve as a table or seating area when the fire pit is not in use.

To ensure you can enjoy a relaxing evening of grilling without it turning into a disaster, it is essential that you follow these safety guidelines when handling fire. For example:

  • Make sure to keep a sufficient distance from buildings.
  • Always set up the fire pit on a level and fire-resistant surface.
  • Use only dry firewood.
  • Never leave the fire unattended.
  • Extinguish the fire immediately if sparks are flying heavily or if it’s windy.

Frequently Asked Questions About the TROJA Round Fire Pit

TROJA ROUND is a round metal fire pit with a cylindrical body and a recessed fire bowl. The standard height is 450 mm. This distinguishes it structurally from many classic fire bowls, which essentially consist of an open, low bowl with a base or support ring. TROJA ROUND can also be configured with a side door, grill ring, grill grate, and other accessories for various uses.

Yes. TROJA ROUND is available from Gartenmetall in Corten steel and stainless steel. For the Corten steel version, the technical product information specifies Corten steel in combination with boiler plate. When exposed to the elements, Corten steel develops its characteristic patina; Gartenmetall exclusively uses weather-resistant structural steel of grade S355J2W+N, material number 1.8965, for this purpose. If you wish to prevent rust stains at the installation site, you should be sure to use a suitable coaster, especially with the Corten steel version.
According to the current technical product information, TROJA ROUND is available in two standard sizes: Ø 950 mm with a fire bowl of Ø 800 mm and Ø 1.250 mm with a fire bowl of Ø 1.000 mm. Both basic models are 450 mm high. Variants with an integrated grill ring have a larger outer diameter due to their design. In addition, custom dimensions are available upon request. For convenient grilling or baking while standing, the TROJA ROUND can also be equipped with an extended body.
TROJA RUND is an open standard fire pit, featuring side door, with grill ring, and with grill ring and side door. The side door features a stainless steel handle and, according to the product page, can be selected as a solid door or a perforated metal version. Models with a side door also include an interior shelf. Smaller accessories can be stored inside the fire pit when it is cold; however, due to its design, the large grill grate does not fit through the side door on the TROJA ROUND model.
Two different grilling options are available for the TROJA ROUND. A solid stainless steel grill grate can be used on the fire pit. Alternatively, there is a ring-shaped grill ring for indirect grilling; a small grill grate is also available for its central opening. The grill ring can also be ordered as an aftermarket addition. Gartenmetall offers it in plain steel or stainless steel, but notes that steel provides better heat conduction for grilling.
The grill ring should be seasoned before its first use. Gartenmetall recommends cleaning it first, heating it completely to over 300 °C, and then treating it with high-heat-resistant oil. During the seasoning process, a dark patina gradually forms, which serves as a natural nonstick coating and corrosion protection. After use, the grilling surface can be scraped clean with a spatula and then lightly oiled. The grill rings are already treated with canola oil at the factory to protect against corrosion.
The model with a side door can be used as an outdoor baking oven or pizza oven. Gartenmetall provides a stone or firebrick plate for heat retention and, optionally, a thermometer in the side door. The correct configuration is therefore crucial: A TROJA ROUND without a side door does not offer this baking function in the same way. Those who want to use the fire pit regularly for baking pizza can also choose an extended body for a more comfortable working height.
For a TROJA RUND made of Corten steel, Gartenmetall recommends a round stainless steel coaster to protect the patio flooring from rust particles. When exposed to the elements, Corten steel develops its distinctive rust-patina and can cause rust-colored deposits, particularly during this process. However, the coaster is not a substitute for proper fire safety measures: The fire pit must also be placed on a fire- and heat-resistant surface.
According to Gartenmetall, a cover isn’t strictly necessary, but it can serve several practical purposes. A round lid protects the fire bowl or grill ring; a larger cover can cover the entire TROJA ROUND and keep leftover wood or charcoal dry. Depending on the model, the covered fire pit can also be used as a table or, with an appropriate seat cushion, as additional seating. There is also a raised lid version available for a grill grate mounted on top.
According to Gartenmetall, the TROJA ROUND wood-burning fire pit may only be used outdoors and without a roof. The surface must be level, stable, and fire- or heat-resistant; the manufacturer explicitly states that wood, WPC decking, and asphalt are unsuitable. A sufficient distance must be maintained from buildings, trees, and shrubs; wind and flying sparks must also be taken into account. The Gartenmetall user information states that fire pits with a bowl diameter of less than 1.200 mm do not require a permit when used in one’s own yard; however, additional local regulations may apply, and renters must obtain their landlord’s consent.
