AQUA GLOBE - Spring fountain with sphere

The spring fountain with sphere is available as a single element, where the sphere sits directly on the water collection vessel installed flush with the ground, or in combination with a water bowl. Both fountain systems are a great eye-catcher in the garden thanks to the LED lighting at the spring outlet.

Metal ball fountain -

solo or with water bowl

The fountain system AQUA GLOBE is a modular system with which individual fountains can be assembled by integrating spring balls made of Corten steel, stainless steel or even natural stone. Due to the modular design, the spheres can be combined in most cases with the water bowls known from the fountain system AQUA BOWL and/or the cubes proven in the fountain system AQUA CUBUS.

Use our prefabricated fountain series or assemble your own high-quality spring fountains from the individual elements – precisely fitting your garden planning.

Important note

The balls are welded together from individual triangular sheets. With corten steel, the welds remain visible even after rusting. And: The balls are only optically round. Tolerance in the diameter ±20 mm möglich.

Spring fountain AQUA GLOBE SAMOA -

Spring ball solo on e.g. moraine gravel

The noble sphere in corten steel or stainless steel quickly attracts attention, especially when installed solo among perennials and low shrubs. In the sun, the sparkling spring water creates reflections that magically attract the eye. But even as a ball without a water outlet, the round shape has its charms and combines well with cut bushes, something boxwood balls. The water collection basin made of fiberglass reinforced plastic (GRP) is buried in the ground and the lid is visually covered with pebbles or other rocks.

The sphere for the spring fountain is available with the following diameter: ø500 mm, ø600 mm and ø750 mm. As a single ball we also offer a small ball with ø300 mm.

Spring ball with water bowl

The spring fountain model TONGA is a combination of noble spring ball and water bowl, in which the dripping water is collected. Both are available in rust red Corten steel and shiny stainless steel. A combination of materials is not advisable, as Corten steel would rust on the more noble metal. Through a small hole in the water bowl, the water flows into the water collection vessel below and is pumped back up from there by a pond pump. Installation is provided so that the shell is aligned flush with the surface of the earth. The water bowls are available with the following diameters: ø800 mm, ø1,000 mm, ø1,200 mm, ø1,400 mm and ø2,000 mm.

Accessories for spring fountain AQUA GLOBE

Cladding for water collection vessel

If the water collection vessel is not to be buried, but placed at ground level, then an optical cladding of the GRP basin with a Corten steel or stainless steel ring is recommended. This gives the fountain a whole new look.

As an accessory, we offer a ring for easy alignment of the water bowl, as well as for the source fountain AQUA BOWL. Material: plastic PE, black.

Lighting at the water outlet

By default, a warm white LED lighting is installed at the water outlet, which provides additional mood. If one of the lights is defective, it can be easily replaced. In doing so, be sure to disconnect the lamp from the circuit beforehand!

Application and care instructions

For wells made of Corten steel, it is to be expected that, especially in the first few years, the water can take on a rusty brown color – until a stable barrier layer has formed on the metal surface. Fountains with water bowls made of corten steel that are not emptied at least once a week and are not allowed to dry completely on a regular basis will rust through like normal metal. Therefore, our AQUA GLOBE fountains are all designed in such a way that when the water supply is turned off, all the water drains into the buried water collection vessel. Nevertheless, the use of a timer is recommended for continuous operation, so that the fountains can dry off completely at least once a week. This also reduces the growth of algae and reduces the accumulation of dirt.

Frequently asked questions about AQUA GLOBE spherical fountains

AQUA GLOBE is a spring fountain featuring a metal sphere as the water outlet. A pump draws water from the reservoir beneath it and forces it upwards through the sphere. The water emerges at the apex and flows back down over the surface of the sphere. The water circuit is closed, meaning that no continuous supply of fresh water is required for operation.
SAMOA consists of a single fountain ball. The water collection vessel beneath it is usually built into the ground and covered, for example, with decorative gravel. 

In the TONGA design, the spring ball is combined with a shallow water basin. The water flowing over the ball is first collected in the basin and then channelled back into the water collection vessel beneath. TONGA is therefore particularly suitable when, in addition to the ball, a visible body of water is to form part of the design.

The decision is primarily a matter of design. Corten steel develops its characteristic rose-patina finish and changes visibly as the patina forms. Stainless steel produces a significantly smoother, metallic finish. 

For the TONGA variant, Gartenmetall recommends choosing a ball and water bowl made from the same material. A combination of Corten steel and stainless steel is not recommended, as rust particles from the Corten steel may transfer to the stainless steel surface.

Depending on the model, fountain balls are available in diameters of 300, 500, 600 and 750 mm. The SAMOA range features pre-configured ball fountains with ball diameters of 500, 600 and 750 mm. 

For TONGA, water basins with diameters of 800, 1,000, 1,200, 1,400 or 2,000 mm can be selected. This allows the ratio between the fountain ball, the visible water surface and the available space to be tailored precisely to the design requirements.

In the standard installation variant, the GRP water collection tank is recessed into the ground. With SAMOA, the lid can then be covered with decorative gravel or other suitable stone, so that mainly the fountain ball remains visible. 

With the TONGA model, the water basin is positioned so that it sits flush with the intended ground or paving level. Water supply, electrical connections and access for maintenance work should therefore be taken into account when preparing the installation site.

The pre-configured AQUA GLOBE fountains are supplied with a pump, suitable hoses, a manual flow regulator and accessories. LED lighting is fitted at the water outlet of the fountain ball; warm white is the standard option.

Separate power connections are required for the pump and the lighting. This allows both components to be connected independently.

No. If the GRP water collection tank is not to be, or cannot be, buried in the ground, a cladding made of Corten steel or stainless steel is available. This means that AQUA GLOBE can also be planned for installation scenarios where conventional burial is not envisaged.

The most suitable design should be determined on the basis of the subsoil, the desired installation height and the accessibility of the technical components.

Corten steel requires regular periods of drying out so that the protective layer of patina can be maintained or continue to develop. AQUA GLOBE is therefore designed so that, when the pump is switched off, the water flows back into the water collection tank. 

Gartenmetall recommends not leaving the fountain running continuously, but switching it off regularly, for example using a timer. Allowing it to dry out helps the protective layer to form, whilst also reducing algae growth and the build-up of dirt.

Yes, particularly during the first few years, rust forming on the surface can cause the water to take on a brown colour. This is part of the process by which the surface of the hybrid rose develops.

It is important that the Corten steel is allowed to dry out completely on a regular basis. This is precisely why, with AQUA GLOBE, the water flows back into the water collection vessel once the pump is switched off, rather than remaining on the sphere or in the water basin.

Yes. AQUA GLOBE is designed as a modular system. Depending on the design, fountain balls can be combined with, amongst other things, water basins from the AQUA BOWL system or with other fountain elements. 

This makes the system suitable for projects where a standard design does not fit the intended geometry or layout. For such combinations, the sphere diameter, water flow, collection vessel and adjacent components should be planned together.
