MERAN bench with wood storage

Our weather-resistant outdoor bench isn’t just an invitation to sit down. It also serves as a practical storage space for small logs and is therefore ideally placed near a fire pit or a wood-burning barbecue. The body of the bench is available in a choice of Corten steel, Rotex-polished stainless steel or made from  colour-coated stainless steel and can therefore be harmoniously adapted to its surroundings.

We offer three different materials for seat covers: 

  • the characteristically dark brown thermo-ash,  cross-section 25 mm x 120 mm
  • the natural fibre composite RESYSTA®, cross-section 20 mm x 70 mm
  • the high-quality solid wood KEBONY®, cross-section 22 mm x 120 mm

Which seat cushions are suitable for the MERAN bench?

The appearance of the garden bench with wooden storage compartment varies depending on the seat cushion chosen. Thermally treated ash wood Thermo-ash is a classic and tried-and-tested material for outdoor use. Cladding made from the natural fibre composite RESYSTA®, whilst a relatively recently developed material is biologically treated pine timber  KEBONY®. Dimensions of the MERAN bench

As standard, we offer benches with wooden storage compartments in lengths of 500 mm (stool), 1,000 mm (bench) and 1,600 mm (long bench). We are happy to manufacture custom lengths of up to 2,000 mm to your specifications. Please request a quote. The height is 475 mm for all benches, as is the depth of 500 mm.

Backrest for the MERAN bench

Would you like greater seating comfort? If so, we recommend fitting the MERAN bench with a backrest. The slats are made from the same material as the bench seat, i.e. either thermo-ash, RESYSTA® or KEBONY® In all cases, no screws are visible on the visible side.

Frequently asked questions about the MERAN bench with wooden storage

MERAN is a weather-resistant outdoor bench with an integrated firewood rack. Firewood can be stored directly beneath the seat, keeping it within easy reach of a fire pit or wood-burning barbecue. Unlike a closed storage bench or chest bench, the storage space in the MERAN is specifically designed for storing firewood.
MERAN is available as a straight bench and as a round bench, MERAN RUND. The straight version is suitable for linear arrangements on terraces, against house walls or around fire pits. MERAN RUND is designed as a circular segment and can be arranged around a fire pit; 90° and 180° segments are available. Both versions combine the seating surface with an integrated log holder.
For the MERAN straight bench, Gartenmetall specifies 500 mm for a stool, 1.000 mm for a bench and 1.600 mm for a long bench. Custom lengths of up to 2.000 mm are available. The seat height is 475 mm. This allows the length of the bench to be adapted to the available space and the planned layout in the outdoor area.
MERAN ROUND is available in 90° and 180° segments and is therefore designed for circular seating arrangements. In the current product range, the version with a nominal outer diameter of 4.000 mm is shown, for example, as a match for the round TROJA ROUND fire pit with a diameter of 950 mm. In the current 4-metre diameter/90° version, the seat height is 475 mm; the log compartment is closed on the outside and open on the inside.
The frame of the MERAN bench is available in Corten steel, Rotex-polished stainless steel or colour-coated stainless steel. Corten steel develops its characteristic ‘noble rose’ surface; Gartenmetall uses weather-resistant structural steel for this and offers MERAN with visually pre-rusted visible surfaces. Rotex-polished stainless steel offers a uniform metallic finish. In the colour-coated version, the base structure is made of stainless steel and can be colour-coordinated to match the architecture and surroundings.
The MERAN range includes thermally treated ash, RESYSTA® and KEBONY®. Thermally treated ash is heat-treated real wood with a dark brown initial colour; as a natural product, it may grey with exposure to the elements and display typical wood characteristics such as colour variations or cracks. KEBONY® is treated pine and is also a real wood variant. RESYSTA® is a wood-effect natural fibre composite which, according to Gartenmetall, is weather-resistant, does not turn grey, splinter, swell or crack, and requires minimal maintenance. The choice therefore depends primarily on whether a natural ageing process is desired or a surface that remains as consistent as possible.
Yes. Gartenmetall offers seat cushions on request that match existing decking boards. This is particularly useful if you wish to ensure that the bench and the decking complement each other in terms of design. The specific design is tailored to each individual project.
MERAN can be fitted with a backrest. Gartenmetall manufactures the slats of the backrest from the same material as the seat cushion – thermo-ash, RESYSTA® or KEBONY®. No fixing screws are visible on the front of the backrest.
For the MERAN RUND, floor fixing with brackets is available as an additional option. This is particularly relevant during the planning stage if the bench is to be permanently fixed in its intended location. Floor fixing should therefore be taken into account when selecting and ordering the specific round bench model.
