TROJA SQUARE Fire Pit for Wood Fires

This is undoubtedly a classic and the best choice for lovers of open fires: Our TROJA fire pit features a compact, square body made of Corten steel or stainless steel, with a height of 450 mm. The fire bowl for wood-burning is round and can accommodate even larger logs.  

With a grill grate attached, TROJA can be used as a high-quality outdoor grill. It creates a real campfire atmosphere! A storage compartment inside the fire pit provides additional convenience. In the “cold” TROJA model with a side door, accessories such as grilling utensils can be stored. The side door is available with or without perforated metal and includes a stainless steel handle. With an inset stone slab for heat retention, it even turns into a real pizza oven!

TROJA Square Fire Pit

Classic or with a side door

The side door with a stainless steel handle is large enough to store accessories such as a grill grate, barbecue utensils, etc., inside the fire pit when it’s not in use. A metal bottom plate protects against moisture from the ground. Since temperatures inside can reach up to 300° C, the stove is ideal as an outdoor baking or pizza oven. Combined with a preheated firebrick pizza stone, baking becomes a real party hit. Side door with integrated thermometer available upon request.

TROJA SQUARE with Grill Ring for Indirect Grilling

If you enjoy grilling meat or vegetables—in other words, anything that can’t be skewered—you’ll find our TROJA model with a grill ring for indirect grilling to be a great help. The grill ring is made of polished steel, as this material conducts heat particularly well. Before first use, it must be coated with a generous amount of cooking oil and cornstarch. This creates a dark, durable surface during the first grilling session, which becomes even better suited for grilling with each subsequent use. To clean, simply scrape off the residue with a spatula.

TROJA as an outdoor baking or pizza oven

Temperatures inside the fire pit can reach up to 300° C. This makes the oven model with a side door ideal for use as an outdoor baking and pizza oven. Combined with a preheated firebrick, baking becomes a party hit. To prevent the pizza from burning, the temperature can be monitored using a thermometer built into the door.

Covers for the TROJA Fire Pit

A cover for the fire pit is generally not necessary. However, a cover protects any remaining wood or charcoal and keeps the basin clean and dry. With the appropriate cover, the surface can also serve as a table or seating area when the fire pit is not in use.

Frequently Asked Questions About the TROJA Fire Pit

TROJA QUADRATISCH is a wood-burning fire pit featuring a cubic, square metal body and an integrated round fire bowl. The fire pit is 450 mm high and is available in Corten steel or stainless steel. Depending on the model, it can be configured as an open fire pit, with a grill ring, with a side door, or with a side door and a grill ring.

The standard model without a side door is available in 500 × 500 mm with a fire bowl Ø400 mm, 900 × 900 mm with a fire bowl Ø800 mm and 1,200 × 1,200 mm with a fire bowl Ø1,000 mm. Models with a side door are available in 900 × 900 mm and 1,200 × 1,200 mm sizes. For models with an integrated grill ring, the external dimensions are 1,020 × 1,020 mm and 1,320 × 1,320 mm, respectively. The height is 450 mm in each case.

Yes. Gartenmetall offers the TROJA SQUARE model in both Corten steel and stainless steel. For the Corten steel version, Gartenmetall uses weather-resistant structural steel S355J2W+N, material no. 1.8965; the visible surfaces are delivered with a pre-rusted finish. Stainless steel offers a different, bright metallic surface appearance and is preferably finished with a Rotex polish by Gartenmetall for garden features.
The grill ring is part of a specific TROJA model and forms a ring around the fire opening. Gartenmetall manufactures it from polished steel; it must be seasoned before first use so that a dark patina forms as a grilling and protective surface. The grill grate, on the other hand, is a separate stainless steel accessory that is placed over the fire bowl using adjustable feet. This allows a TROJA to be used for grilling even without the grill ring.
The side door provides access to the interior space beneath the fire bowl. Once the fire pit has cooled completely, this space can be used to store barbecue utensils and other accessories; an interior shelf seals off the storage space from below. The door is equipped with a stainless steel handle and also serves as a prerequisite for using the fire pit as an oven, as intended by Gartenmetall.

Yes, but not every model is equally suitable. Gartenmetall explicitly certifies the TROJA with a side door and fire bowl up to Ø800 mm for use as a pizza oven. To do this, a pizza stone is placed in the oven opening to store heat; a thermometer in the side door is available as an accessory and makes it easier to monitor the temperature.
A TROJA wood-burning fireplace may only be operated outdoors, without a roof, and on a level, fireproof, or heat-resistant surface. Gartenmetall, for example, lists natural stone as a suitable surface; asphalt, as well as wood or WPC decking, are not suitable. A sufficient distance must be maintained from buildings, trees, and shrubs, taking regional regulations into account.
A trivet is not necessarily a standard component of the fire pit, but Gartenmetall recommends using one with the Corten steel model when placed on patio slabs. It protects the surface, in particular, from rust particles and possible discoloration. For the TROJA SQUARE model, appropriately sized stainless steel trivets are available; please follow the installation instructions regarding the required distance between the fire pit and the trivet.
According to Gartenmetall, a cover is generally not necessary. However, it is useful if you want to keep any remaining wood, charcoal, or the fire bowl dry and protected until the next use. Depending on the cover you choose, the TROJA—once it has cooled completely—can also be used as a table or additional seating when not in use.
Yes. For the square TROJA models with base dimensions of 900 or 1.200 mm, Gartenmetall offers an extension that increases the body’s total height to 900 mm. This extension is designed specifically for grilling and baking pizza while standing. In the version with a side door, the door and interior remain in their original positions and sizes.
