Exclusive Metal Outdoor Kitchens

ELBA and IBIZA Models

An exclusive outdoor kitchen is the crowning touch for any garden and has been very trendy for some time now. The ELBA and IBIZA outdoor kitchens from Gartenmetall® are modeled after high-quality built-in kitchens, except that they’ve been specially designed for outdoor use in terms of materials and durability. So nothing stands in the way of celebrating with family, friends, or colleagues—and you’re sure to impress your friends with them!

Gartenmetall® designs, plans, and manufactures its own modular kitchens with metal cabinet units. This allows the dimensions, layout of the cabinet modules, and assembly to be easily customized to meet the needs of the homeowners. For materials, customers can choose between rust-red Corten steel, rotex-polished stainless steel, or color-coated stainless steel; for countertops, they can choose between elegant natural stone, stainless steel, or glass-ceramic. Optionally, the kitchen can be expanded with various additional elements: a stainless steel gas grill, sink, refrigerator, and trash can are just a few of the items Gartenmetall® offers as add-ons.

Garden Kitchen Models for Different Needs

When planning a custom garden kitchen, there are countless possibilities and variations. To meet the homeowner’s wishes as closely as possible, we offer two fundamentally different kitchen design concepts:

The ELBA model  ELBA and the IBIZA model.

What both models have in common is that the cabinet modules are made of solid, weather-resistant, and durable Corten steel or stainless steel and can be powder-coated if desired.

To clarify: ELBA is our fully assembled, high-quality outdoor kitchen with a “push-to-open” function for the cabinet drawers. It can be set up quickly and is particularly sturdy. IBIZA is designed as a modular kitchen and features hinged doors. Refrigerators and trash cans can also be integrated into this model, which is not possible with ELBA. A combination of the two systems is not technically possible.

Before production begins on any custom kitchen, a detailed 3D approval drawing with all specifications is always created. As an alternative to custom designs, we offer popular pre-built combinations.&

Frequently Asked Questions About Metal Outdoor Kitchens

An outdoor kitchen must be a permanent fit for its location, the desired features, and your cooking routines. That’s why the materials, countertop, storage space, grill, sink, and other fixtures should be coordinated with one another right from the planning stage. Here, we answer important questions about our metal outdoor kitchens.

ELBA and IBIZA differ primarily in their construction. ELBA is manufactured as a largely pre-assembled outdoor kitchen with large cabinet and drawer pull-outs. The pull-outs feature soft-close and self-closing mechanisms or push-to-open technology.

IBIZA, on the other hand, consists of individual cabinet modules with hinged doors that are connected on-site. This allows the layout of the modules to be flexibly adapted to accommodate a grill, storage space, and other built-in features. Which version is a better fit therefore depends less on appearance than on the desired features, functionality, and installation situation.

Depending on the model, the metal frames are available in Corten steel, Rotex-polished stainless steel, and color-coated stainless steel. For Corten steel, Gartenmetall uses weather-resistant structural steel S355J2W+N with the material number 1.8965.

There are also various options for the countertop. Depending on the design, materials such as natural stone (e.g., black NERO ASSOLUTO granite), stainless steel, Corten steel, or other countertop materials intended for the system may be considered. The cabinet and countertop should be considered separately: The desired finish is only one part of the decision; cleaning, usage, and installation conditions are just as important.

Corten steel develops its characteristic patina when exposed to varying weather conditions. Rust particles and rust water may be released, particularly while this surface is forming. For Corten steel outdoor kitchens, the location should therefore be planned so that this erosion can occur in a controlled manner and sensitive adjacent surfaces are taken into account.

Once the rusting process is complete, the surface can be sealed with ROST-PROTECT®. For Corten steel countertops, the issue of surface treatment is particularly relevant, as food, dishes, and hands come into direct contact with the surface.

No. Stainless steel is well-suited for outdoor use, but it still requires cleaning and maintenance. Dust, dirt, deposits, or foreign iron particles can accumulate on the surface.

For garden features, Gartenmetall relies, among other things, on rotex-polished stainless steel surfaces. The non-directional finish makes fingerprints less noticeable and makes it relatively easy to touch up minor signs of wear on the surface. For regular cleaning, water, a soft cloth, and a suitable mild cleaner are usually sufficient.

The metal cabinets from ELBA and IBIZA are designed for outdoor use. However, this does not mean that every built-in appliance is suitable for the same conditions without further testing.

This applies especially to refrigerators and grilling equipment. For a garden kitchen, you should use a refrigerator that is specifically designed for outdoor use. Depending on the model, grills may also require weather protection and regular maintenance. The outdoor kitchen should therefore be planned as a complete system consisting of a metal cabinet, countertop, and suitable built-in appliances.

Yes. In addition to preconfigured complete packages, Gartenmetall also manufactures outdoor kitchens with custom dimensions and modular layouts. Key factors include the overall length, position, and width of the individual cabinets, as well as the planned built-in appliances.

For custom garden kitchens, a 3D approval drawing is created before production begins. This allows dimensions, appliance positions, and the overall layout to be verified before the metal parts are manufactured.

Pre-designed solutions with built-in gas grills are available for ELBA and IBIZA. The Gartenmetall line features, among other things, stainless steel gas grills from BEEFEATER. Completed kitchens also feature integrations with products such as the BIG GREEN EGG.

If the customer selects their own grill, the integration should be clarified before the kitchen is designed. The cutout, installation dimensions, operating direction, ventilation, and routing of lines all influence the design of the corresponding cabinet module and countertop. An existing grill should therefore not be planned for until after the kitchen has been manufactured.

Depending on the chosen kitchen layout, built-in sinks, faucets, outdoor refrigerators, and other cabinet fixtures can be included. With IBIZA, for example, various cabinet modules, shelves, and interior drawers are available, as well as special modules for grills and refrigeration.

It is crucial to select the appliances early on. A sink requires a properly sized cutout in the countertop and connections at the intended location. In addition to its installation dimensions, a refrigerator also requires the technically specified ventilation. These points should therefore be part of the kitchen planning process and not left to be resolved during on-site installation.

A garden kitchen with a metal frame, grilling equipment, and a natural stone countertop places a significant amount of weight on the installation site. The ground must therefore be level, sturdy, and capable of supporting the intended load.

Depending on the system, metal outdoor kitchens feature adjustable leveling feet that are used to align the kitchen at its final location. However, this adjustment capability is no substitute for a sufficiently load-bearing foundation. Especially when building on a patio, it is therefore important to determine during the planning phase where the loads will be supported.

For freestanding installations, the countertop and kitchen modules can be planned together. The situation is different if the outdoor kitchen is to be positioned exactly between walls, siding, or in an existing niche.

For such built-in installations, it is recommended to first set up and align the kitchen base cabinet at its final location. Afterward, the actual measurements for the countertop can be taken. This allows for construction tolerances that cannot be reliably determined from a plan dimension alone.

Cleaning depends on the surface. For stainless steel, deposits should be removed regularly with soft cloths or sponges and mild cleaning agents. Avoid abrasive cleaners if they could damage the existing surface finish.

Painted stainless steel surfaces can be cleaned with water, neutral soap, and soft cloths. For Corten steel, ROST-PROTECT® offers a way to seal a fully formed patina surface afterward. The appropriate care routine therefore depends directly on the chosen material finish.

To create a solid plan, a few specific details are helpful to start with: the intended location, the approximate available length, the desired countertop, and the appliances to be installed. In particular, the grill, sink, and refrigerator should be decided on as early as possible, because they affect cutouts, cabinet layout, and connections.

The accessibility of the installation site is also part of the planning process. Pre-assembled kitchen modules and natural stone countertops can be very heavy. Providing measurements, photos, or a sketch of the installation site therefore creates a much better foundation for technical coordination and the subsequent 3D approval drawing.
