Care for wood surfaces
DThe wooden surface can be cleaned – if necessary – with a commercial cleaner. To ensure that no material damage occurs, the cleaner should be tested on a sample surface beforehand. Never clean the wooden seat covers with a high-pressure cleaner! The hard water jet would destroy the wood fibers on the surface with the result that the wood would weather much faster. Do you want to avoid the seating surfaces fading and graying after a few months? Then clean the surface and oil the wood 1-2 times a year with a natural oil. The oil closes the pores and thus counteracts fading. Dirt particles also do not penetrate as deeply after treatment and can be wiped off easily if necessary.
Care for metal surfaces
Metallic surfaces are ideal for outdoor use: they are weather-resistant to heat, cold and rain, making them particularly durable. Nevertheless, garden objects made of corten steel, stainless steel or color-coated stainless steel need some care.Here are a few tips for a long life:
- Regularly check the objects for rust spots. Even with the characteristic rust-red patinated corten steel, rusting through can occur if the metal objects for the garden are placed, for example, in waterlogged conditions.
- Remove leaves and other organic material to avoid staining the surface.
- Clean stainless steel surfaces regularly with a mild stainless steel care product – especially in places where rain does not reach. For more stubborn stains, treatment with a stainless steel lotion is recommended, which can even remove rust stains.
- Color-coated surfaces should always be checked for damaged areas. You can easily touch up small scratches with the appropriate paint. To do this, clean the defective area, roughen it slightly and then apply the paint, for example, with a brush and let it dry.
